AROUND TOWN

🚗 Beginning August 1st paid parking in downtown will increase to $2/hour. The fees go to enhanced Downtown services (clean up, snow and cinder removal, restroom maintenance, etc.) and future parking expansion. Flagstaff ArtWalk has great information about free parking around downtown.

💦 The City of Flagstaff has a Flood Assistance Prevention Program. Property owners and renters can apply for a grant to purchase dry flood proofing materials. The program will cover 100% of the cost of materials, up to $7,500. Applications are open now and are selected first-come, first-serve.

BUSINESS NEWS

🏪 Mountainaire General Store is back in action with a new owner and rebrand. They now offer pastries and breakfast burritos from Flagstaff Baking Co. and merchandise like t-shirts, hoodies and hats for area hikers. Lookout for pop-up events with bookmobiles and other area businesses.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

🌶️ Flagstaff Chili Festival is August 1-2nd in Thorpe Park. Each day features a variety of competitions sanctioned by the by the International Chili Society. Free admission, $10 for tastings, beer garden, music, and vendors.

🎞️ Flagstaff Film Festival is August 1-2nd at Theatrikos and around town. Check their program booklet for info on the free animation workshop, genre screenings, coffee connections, award ceremony and after parties.

👗Join the Flagstaff Thrift Shop Crawl August 1-15th throughout town. Grab a passport at one of the 8 participating thrift shops and enter to win prizes! Shop sustainably and have tons of fun!

🛼 Sign up for High Altitude Roller Derby’s free 2-Day Fresh Meat Bootcamp taking place August 15-16th! This is a fun intro to roller derby to learn the basics, meet the skaters, and discover the love for the sport. No experience necessary, and everyone is welcome!
