PRESENTED BY
Good morning, Flagstaff! August 14th is National Navajo Code Talker’s Day, honoring the Indigenous marines who used their native language to make an unbreakable code used during World War II. You can meet the last surviving Navajo Code Talker on Saturday, 10am-12pm at City Hall. On NAU campus you can visit the Navajo Code Talkers Monument sculpted by alumnus R.C. Gorman. It was modeled after his father Carl Gorman, one of the original Code Talkers.

AROUND TOWN
👨🏽👩🏽👧🏼👦🏾 Flagstaff Family Food Center received an anonymous $1 million donation! The donation will be used to stock shelves, create new distribution centers and bring food to more rural parts of the region. This is the biggest donation it has ever received. There are dozens of ways to volunteer with the bank to give food to hungry locals.
🚧Pedestrian crossing improvements will begin along Fort Valley Road on Aug 17th. One lane of traffic in each direction will always remain open throughout construction, some of which will be done by the end of the year.
